Il sergente Thomas Greenway era l’ingegnere di volo e artigliere della torretta superiore del “B-17” A/C #42-31893 “Busy Bee”, che si schiantò il 14 febbraio 1944 vicino a Mantova.
Thomas Greenway (5 giugno 1909 – 8 febbraio 1985) nacque a Booneville, Arkansas da Charles Sanford Greenway e sua moglie Lena Mai Radford, nella contea di Logan, a est di Fort Smith nell’Arkansas occidentale.
Durante la seconda guerra mondiale prestò servizio nell’aeronautica militare degli Stati Uniti come ingegnere di volo su un bombardiere B-17. Durante una missione (14 febbraio 1944 – Verona M/Y), fu abbattuto e trascorse più di un anno in campi di prigionia italiani e tedeschi. Rilasciato dal servizio militare, si esibì a Broadway a New York City, prima di passare al cinema, dove ebbe molti ruoli non accreditati nei primi anni della sua carriera.
Greenway morì nel febbraio 1985 per un infarto nella sua casa di Los Angeles, California all’età di 75 anni.

Thomas Greenway (June 5, 1909 – February 8, 1985) was born in Booneville, Arkansas to Charles Sanford Greenway and his wife Lena Mai Radford, in Logan County, east of Fort Smith in western Arkansas. During World War II he served in the United States Army Air Corps as a flight engineer on a B-17 bomber.While on a mission (14 February 1944 – Verona M/Y), he was shot down and spent more than a year in Italian and German POW camps. Released from military service, he performed on Broadway in New York City, before he moved to films, where he had many uncredited roles in the early years of his career. Greenway died in February 1985 of a heart attack at his home in Los Angeles, California at the age of 75.
